Commander Dean R. Dobransky is a native of San Diego, CA. He attended Northern Arizona University where he earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Science. He commissioned in 2010 after graduating from Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI.
Upon completion of initial training, he was stationed aboard USS Olympia (SSN 717), homeported in Pearl Harbor, HI, and conducted two WESTPAC deployments. Following this assignment, he was selected to serve as an instructor and then Division Director at Nuclear Power School.
Following completion of the Submarine Officers Advanced Course, he was stationed aboard USS Topeka (SSN 754) where he served as the Engineer Officer and completed three Guam Mission Cycles in the WESTPAC AOR. He then served as a Regional Employment Officer for the Operations Directorate of COMSUBPAC. Upon completion of the Submarine Command Course, he served as the Executive Officer of USS Helena (SSN 725), where he conducted a successful change of homeport via the Panama Canal from Norfolk, VA to Bremerton, WA in preparation for Helena’s decommissioning.
His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (seven awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various unit citations.
