LCDR Andrew Martin is from Attalla, Alabama by way of Union, South Carolina. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and reported to Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois on 27 November 1996 and completed Gunner’s Mate “A” school in Aug 1997. LCDR Martin commissioned as a Surface Ordnance and subsequently converted to Surface Electronics Limited Duty Officer on February 1, 2012.
His first duty station was aboard USS MOOSBRUGGER DD 980, stationed in Mayport, Florida. His subsequent sea commands were USS MCCAMPBELL DDG 85, USS SAMPSON DDG 102, USS T. ROOSEVELT CVN 71 (FCO), USS MCFAUL DDG 74 (STO/CSO), and USS AMERICA LHA 6 (C5I/Gun Boss)
LCDR Martin’s shore tours include Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois; Afloat Training Group, San Diego, California; Navy Munitions Command, Norfolk, Virginia (XO).
His formal training includes Vertical Launcher System Mk 41 (Mods 1/5/7) “C” school, Mk 45 (Mods 1 and 4) 5”62 Light Weight Gun Mount “C” school. Small Arms Instructor “C” school, Crew Serviced Weapons Instructor “C” school, Basic Swimming/Water Survival Instructor, Tactical Tomahawk Watch Officer, Aviation Ordnance Officer Career Progression Level 1-3, Legal Officer, Amphibious Warfare Indoctrination, Amphibious Airspace Coordination, Air Launched Weapons Ordnance Supervisor, and F-35C Ordnance Systems Technician.
LCDR Martin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Workforce Education and Development from Sothern Illinois University (Magna Cum Laude). Additionally, he holds a Level 5 certification in Homeland Security and is a certified Ordnance Artificer.
Personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (six awards), Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal (four awards) and various service, campaign and unit awards.
He assumed duties as the Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Combat Systems, and Intelligence (C5I) Officer at Theater Undersea Surveillance Command Pacific, Whidbey Island, Washington in April 2023.
In July 2024, LCDR Martin reported to Surface Combat Systems Center, Wallops Island, Virginia, as Executive Officer.
