Captain Edwin Catubig

Captain Edwin Catubig is a native of Dumaguete City, Philippines. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Feb. 15, 1991 at Subic Bay Naval Base, Philippines under the US-RP Military Bases Agreement Enlistment Program.

Upon completion of recruit training in San Diego, California, he reported to USS Camden (AOE 2) in Bremerton, WA. Follow on tours included USS San Bernardino (LST 1149), USS Fort McHenry (LSD 43) and ACU-1 Detachment Western Pacific, all in Sasebo, Japan.

In September 2001, he was promoted to Chief Engineman and had follow on orders to SIMA, San Diego as one of the maintenance Ship Superintendents.

Captain Catubig commissioned as Ensign in November 2003 under the Limited Duty Officer Program.

As an LDO, his assignments included Material Officer aboard USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63), Steam and Diesel N82/EAP Assessor at ATG Yokosuka, Japan, MPA aboard USS New Orleans (LPD 18), Boat Support Division Officer-in-Charge at Naval Special Warfare Basic Training Command, Chief Engineer aboard USS Ashland (LSD 48), Chief Engineer/EAP Project Officer at ATGWP, Yokosuka, Japan, Chief Engineer aboard USS Kearsarge (LHD 3), Senior Engineer at INSURV, Virginia Beach VA, ACOS/N4 for Logistics and Readiness at ESG3, and currently serves as Deputy Commander/Executive Officer at SRF-JRMC Yokosuka, Japan.

Captain Catubig completed the following degrees: Associate of Arts at the University of Phoenix, 1998, Bachelor of Arts major in Mathematics at Excelsior College in 2008 and Master of Business Administration in International Business at Trident University in 2011.

His personal awards include Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals (6 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals (4 awards), and various service medals and ribbons.

He is married to Lalane Vejar Catubig of Cebu City, Philippines. The couple are blessed with four children, Brian, Luke, Hana, and Edwin Jr.
