During the visit, Owens and Cramer met with senior leadership from PHNSY & IMF to assess progress on the Navy’s Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program and tour the shipyard’s dry dock areas that will be modernized beginning in 2023. The first modernization action proposes to construct and operate a new graving dry dock and waterfront production facility to support current and future classes of the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines.

Carderock Interns Celebrated at Montgomery County Public School’s Summer RISE Ceremony

Montgomery County Public Schools’ Summer RISE Program interns chat with the Carderock’s table at the program career fair session at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in Rockville, Md., July 25, 2024. The session gives students and companies who participated in the program the opportunity to network and learn about different future opportunities, like those offered at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division. Carderock is one of the Navy’s pre-eminent research and development facilities that specializes in critical ship design components headquartered in West Bethesda, Maryland. The Carderock Division supports small-scale model testing and evaluation of next-generation surface ships and underwater vessels.
