During the visit, Owens and Cramer met with senior leadership from PHNSY & IMF to assess progress on the Navy’s Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program and tour the shipyard’s dry dock areas that will be modernized beginning in 2023. The first modernization action proposes to construct and operate a new graving dry dock and waterfront production facility to support current and future classes of the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines.

Carderock Engineers Support Signature Testing in the Arctic

Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division engineers in the Signatures Department support Operation Ice Camp (ICEX) in the Arctic Ocean in March 2024. ICEX is a biennial event that aims to maintain expertise in Arctic-specific knowledge, equipment and procedures to enable submarine forces to safely and effectively operate in the Arctic Ocean. This was the second consecutive ICEX Carderock supported in partnership with the Arctic Submarine Laboratory.
