During the visit, Owens and Cramer met with senior leadership from PHNSY & IMF to assess progress on the Navy’s Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program and tour the shipyard’s dry dock areas that will be modernized beginning in 2023. The first modernization action proposes to construct and operate a new graving dry dock and waterfront production facility to support current and future classes of the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines.

RI Air National Guard general commemorates Veterans Day with visit to NUWC Division Newport

Brig. Gen. Kimberly Baumann (right), the first female general in the state of Rhode Island, was Veterans Day guest speaker on Nov. 4. During her presentation, she thanked her son, Philipp Baumann, a computer scientist in Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport's Undersea Warfare Combat Systems Department, for taking care of the household when she and her husband were deployed.
