During the visit, Owens and Cramer met with senior leadership from PHNSY & IMF to assess progress on the Navy’s Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program and tour the shipyard’s dry dock areas that will be modernized beginning in 2023. Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY) held a groundbreaking for its new production training facility July 1, which will consolidate training currently spread across 26 different NNSY locations and eight departments into a single 157,000 square-foot, $64.7 million dollar facility. Eric Gillespie

Mr. Eric R. Gillespie began his service as Division Deputy Technical Director (DDTD) for Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Keyport in October 2015. As DDTD, Mr. Gillespie serves as the Navy Technical Expert in the Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E), and life cycle sustainment of the Division’s technical products. He also assists the Division Technical Director in management and oversight of command mission: test and evaluation, in-service engineering, maintenance and repair, fleet support and industrial base support for undersea warfare systems, undersea weapon systems, countermeasures and sonar systems.
