During the visit, Owens and Cramer met with senior leadership from PHNSY & IMF to assess progress on the Navy’s Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program and tour the shipyard’s dry dock areas that will be modernized beginning in 2023. NREIP Interns 2016

DAHLGREN, Va. — Florida State University student Charisa Powell presents her research on the “Development of Software Tools for Simulation Prototypes” to military and government personnel during her 2016 summer internship. Powell - among 22 students who completed their internships at Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) - is working towards a bachelor’s degree in computer science. The Naval Research Enterprise Intern Program (NREIP) encourages students to pursue science and engineering careers, furthers education via mentoring and their participation in research, and makes them aware of Navy research and technology efforts, which can lead to civilian employment within the Navy.
