Navy Scientists and Engineers Increase Awareness of NSWCDD Technical Capabilities at Navy Yard Event
Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) chemist Tim Anthony explains the Navy's shipboard chemical warfare agent detector, called the Improved Point Detection System - Life cycle Replacement, at the NSWCDD Briefing and Technical Demonstration held at Naval Sea System Command headquarters, Nov. 3. The Navy has installed the system - designed to quickly alert warfighters to the presence of chemical warfare agents - on 50% of all active guided missile destroyers and cruisers, aircraft carriers, large and small deck amphibious ships, littoral combat ships and dry cargo/ammunition ships with plans to be completed by the end of 2019.
