You or your sponsor can take care of your lodging reservation upon arrival and you will be required to submit a valid credit card at check-in if you haven’t done so already.

On base the Navy Gateway Inns and Suites (NGIS) Bahrain offers standard rooms and suites in addition to shared rooms. Navy Gateway Inns and Suites has all the comforts of a typical hotel. A 24-hour mini mart is co-located in the hotel. The NEX, MWR and NEX outlets, and Navy Federal Credit Union are all within a two-minute walk. Amenities include free laundry, free Wi-Fi, Cable TV, an ice machine, in-room safe, mini-refrigerator and they are pet friendly.

NGIS is often not available for long periods of stay. When you arrive, you may want to or need to stay in a hotel off base. If you are traveling to Bahrain, ALL military and civilian DoD personnel traveling on TDY or PCS orders to NSA Bahrain are required to coordinate ALL lodging reservations through Navy Gateway Inns and Suites to comply with force protection measures. Commercial hotels will not exceed a maximum of 25% occupancy per night.

NGIS partners with commercial hotels in Bahrain providing lodging accommodations with rates below per diem that provide safe and secure lodging accommodations that meet DoD Lodging Standards, Navy Commercial Lodging standards and NSA Bahrain requirements. Certificates of Non-Availability (CNAs) are issued by NGIS prior to booking a commercial hotel. Your sponsor can coordinate with NGIS to receive a CNA and reserve accommodations in advance. NGIS Bahrain is open 24 hours a day to assist with your lodging arrangements.

Please check your CNA upon receipt to ensure that the amount on the CNA is within your particular allowance.

Description of areas where hotels are located:

• Juffair is just off base. Hotels in this area can be walking distance from NSA Bahrain when the outside temperatures are not extreme. Many restaurants, small convenient/grocery stores, and bars will be within walking distance of these hotels.
• The Diplomatic Area is 5-minute drive from NSA Bahrain. This area will be close to restaurants, the souk, and malls, but will require transportation.
• Amwaj Islands are a 15-minute drive away. This area is on a manmade island and is close to restaurants and bars. Most hotels will have sea views.
• Bab Al is a 10-minute drive from base. This area will be close to restaurants, the souk, and malls, but will require transportation.
