On Tuesday, Oct. 8, NSWC Crane hosted a Hispanic Heritage Month Luncheon. A panel of NSWC Crane employees discussed their careers and experiences. Hispanic Heritage Month, observed from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, was first celebrated in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon B. Johnson. The observance was expanded under President Ronald Reagan to cover a full 30 days, keeping the September 15 start date due to its significance. Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua all gained independence on Sept. 15, and Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence within the month. Watch the video segment below to hear from one of the panelists.
