Commander Brandon L. Johnson

Executive Officer, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility

Cdr. Brandon Johnson is currently serving as the Executive Officer of Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility.

Johnson is a native of Lawrence, Kansas.  He enlisted in the Navy in January, 1991 into the nuclear propulsion program.  In September 1992, he graduated from Nuclear Power Training Unit (NPTU), Charleston, SC.

His enlisted assignments include NPTU Charleston, SC (MTS 626); USS South Carolina (CGN 37), where earned his Enlisted Surface Warfare qualification and advanced to Chief Petty Officer, and USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71).

In June 2001, Johnson received his Officer Commissioning as a Limited Duty Officer.  His first assignment was USS Enterprise (CVN 65) where he served as Reactor Mechanical Division Officer and Auxiliaries Division Technical Assistant and earned his Officer of the Deck Underway and Surface Warfare Officer qualifications.

Other sea assignments include USS Frank Cable (AS 40) as Radiological Controls Training Assistant; USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) as Ship’s Maintenance Manager; USS George HW Bush (CVN 77) as Reactor Maintenance Officer and USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) as Chief Engineer.  

Johnson has completed deployments on nuclear powered cruisers and aircraft carriers to the 5th, 6th, and 7th Fleet areas of operation.

Ashore, he has served in the NAVSEA Representative’s Office (NSRO) at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard; Deputy Director at Norfolk Naval Shipyard Nuclear Regional Maintenance Department and Director, Nuclear Field “A” School, Naval Nuclear Power Training Command, Charleston, SC. He currently serves as the Executive Officer at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility, Bremerton, WA.

His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (six awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards) and various unit commendations and service ribbons.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Applied Sciences and Technology with Nuclear Emphasis from Thomas Edison University and a Master of Science in Management with Leadership emphasis from Troy University.

Johnson is married to Lisa Johnson of Lawrence, Kansas.  They have three children, Brianna (28), Matthew (26) and Conner (20).
