COMMANDER GREGORY P. DeJUTE

Officer in Charge, Forward Deployed Regional Maintenance Center, Detachment Rota

A native of Minnesota, Cmdr. Greg DeJute graduated from the University of Michigan in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering and commissioned as a Naval Officer. He holds a Master of Science in System Engineering from Naval Postgraduate School. 

In July 2010, DeJute completed primary Naval Flight Officer training with Training Squadron TEN (VT-10 Wildcats) and subsequently completed intermediate Naval Flight Officer training with the Training Squadron FOUR (VT-4 Warbucks). He reported to Airborne Command & Control Squadron (VAW) 120 and began training in the E-2C Hawkeye. He received his Wings of Gold and designated a Naval Flight Officer in August 2011. He reported to the VAW 126 Seahawks in November 2011.

DeJute laterally transferred to the Engineering Duty Officer (EDO) community in March 2014. Reporting to Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center in May 2014, he qualified EDO serving as the Project Officer for USS Gunston Hall (LSD 44) and later as the Dock Landing Ship, Amphibious Transport Dock Ship, and Guided-Missile Destroyer Class Team Officer. From 2018 to 2021, he served at Commander, Naval Surface Forces Atlantic as the Littoral Type Desk Manager responsible for littoral combat ship, mine countermeasure ship, patrol coastal ship and expeditionary sea base hulls. He most recently served at Supervisor of Shipbuilding Newport News as the Program Manager’s Representative for USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74), undergoing a refueling and complex overhaul at Newport News Shipbuilding.  

DeJute assumed the role and responsibilities of Officer in Charge of Forward Deployed Regional Maintenance Center Detachment Rota on December 15, 2023. He is responsible for the maintenance, modernization and repair of the U.S. Navy’s Forward Deployed Naval Forces – Europe fleet of Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyers.

DeJute’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medal (two awards).
