NSWCDD Veterans Network, Engage Panelists on Navy Civilian Career Topics

The NSWCDD Employee Engagement Program, which includes the Veteran Integration Initiative, sponsored the event to facilitate new opportunities for connection and networking among NSWCDD veterans.

NSWC Dahlgren Division Commanding Officer Promoted to Captain at Ceremony

IMAGE: DAHLGREN, Va. (Aug. 30, 2019) – Rear Adm. Eric Ver Hage, Naval Sea Systems Command Warfare Centers commander, left, promotes Cmdr. Casey Plew to the rank of captain before family, friends, and colleagues at Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD). It was Plew’s second ceremony marking a career milestone in four months. The new Navy captain took command of NSWCDD – the Naval Sea System Command’s largest Naval Warfare Center – at a ceremony held on the Potomac River Test Range in April.

Oravec Relieves Hoffman at NSWC Dahlgren Division – Dam Neck Activity

More than 200 Sailors and guests attended a traditional Change of Command ceremony at Naval Air Station (NAS) Oceana’s Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit’s ceremonial hangar aboard NAS Oceana June 27 where Hoffman was relieved of command by Oravec. Oravec became the command’s 28th commanding officer.

Junior Navy Scientists, Engineers Develop Integration Capability for Electric Weapons

Rear Adm. Eric Ver Hage visits NSWC Dahlgren Division

Eric Ver Hage – commander of the Naval Sea System Command (NAVSEA) Warfare Centers – discusses high energy laser testing with Dr. Chris Lloyd, High Energy Laser Lethality lead at Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD). Lloyd emphasized that lethality lab efforts – including rigorous modeling and testing against target materials to ensure high energy laser systems meet warfighter requirements – are growing while keeping pace with an increased demand signal for fielded high energy laser weapons. Meanwhile, Lloyd’s team is coordinating and collaborating with organizations throughout the Department of Defense and elsewhere to accomplish common goals.
