Ver Hage Assumes Command of SEA 21 and Navy Regional Maintenance Center

Rear Adm. Eric Ver Hage relieved Rear Adm. Tom Anderson as commander, Navy Regional Maintenance Center (CNRMC) and director, Surface Ship Maintenance and Modernization (SEA 21) at the Washington Navy Yard on Apr. 24.  The transition took place without formal ceremony due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Commander, Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Vice Adm. Tom Moore was the presiding officer.

NSWC Crane employees volunteer to 3D print hundreds of ear guards for healthcare workers

Several Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC Crane) employees are 3D printing hundreds of ear guards to donate to healthcare workers in need. These employees are volunteering to use their own 3D printing machines and supplies to alleviate the pain medical professionals are currently experiencing while wearing masks for extended periods of time.

Norfolk Naval Shipyard implements enhanced screening at gates, widespread face mask issuance

Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY) began enhanced screening procedures April 22 for personnel entering the installation, with qualified personnel taking temperatures and asking questions to ensure employees are not exhibiting any symptoms or at increased risk for having COVID-19. NNSY is the first installation in the region and first of the four public shipyards to conduct temperature checks at its gates.

NSWCPD’s Newest Patent Honors Engineer’s Memory

The Spring-Loaded Target Carrier for Laser Tracking was developed by Naval Surface Warfare Center, Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) engineers in the Command’s Advanced Data Acquisition, Prototyping Technologies and Virtual Environments (ADAPT.VE) to expand the Command’s 3D scanning application portfolio. The target carrier design allows engineers to place spherically mounted retroreflective (SMR) targets for the scanner to measure inside of cavities and other spaces that were previously unreachable.
