NSWC Dahlgren Division Team Works Remotely to Ensure Valiant Shield 2020 Success

Meanwhile, a team of Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) scientists and engineers worked from two locations – Dahlgren, Va., and Honolulu, Hawaii – to ensure the success of this year’s Valiant Shield exercise. “Our biggest strategic accomplishment was supporting live forces, both afloat and at terrestrial sites, using a combined in-person and local operations team,” said Joseph Pack, NSWCDD deputy director for expeditionary warfare, regarding Dahlgren’s impact on the exercise that focuses on the integration of joint training in a blue-water environment among U.S. forces. NSWCPD Becomes First Warfare Center to Earn Voluntary Protection Program Star Certification Three Times

When NSWCPD earned the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star Recertification on Oct. 5, 2020, it also became the first Warfare Center to receive the prestigious certification three times. For the Warfighter: NSWC Dahlgren Test and Evaluation Division Pushes the Status Quo with Higher Engineering Competency

IMAGE: Dahlgren, VA. – When you hear a high-energy clamor coming from Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), you’re likely hearing ordinance qualification testing done by Dahlgren’s test and evaluation division. Every product, including the one pictured, must first be qualified for release. “Dahlgren is all about weapons systems and developing material to go out into the fleet to help the warfighter,” said Shawn Schneider, vibration subject matter expert. Environmental testing is split into dynamic and climatic testing. “We owe it to the warfighter to make sure that we do the right tests.” Schneider continued, “There’s no one size fits all, easy answer, to what vibration testing entails. Everything is tailored.” NSWCDD’s move to a test and evaluation team with greater engineering competency has propelled the organization’s capacities forward. NSWCPD Hosts First Contract Fraud Awareness Week

Each month the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) posts for its workforce information on the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA)’s Contract Fraud Risk Assessment and Mitigation (C-FRAM) program. NSWCPD hosted its first Contract Fraud Awareness Week, Oct. 5 – 9, 2020, featuring virtual guest speakers from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) and Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS) who discussed a number of real-life fraud scenarios.
