Navy ships, similar to the one pictured may get some help with corrosion issues. NSWC PHD’s Lead Materials Engineer Armen Kvryan along with PHD’s Fathomwerx Lab, Matter Labs and Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division are hosting a Rust-A-Thon competition to help find coatings that can mitigate and control corrosion on Navy ships.

ance Brahosky, NSWC PHD’s deputy technical director, takes the controls of a student-built robot at the Oct. 16, 2019 ceremony at Oxnard College celebrating NSWC PHD, NAWC WD and NAVFAC EXWC’s receipt of grant funds from the Navy’s Office of Secretary of Defense. Much like this year’s recent disbursement, the grant money went to local students for participation in the For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) Robotics competitions. The two students flanking Brahosky also participated in NSWC PHD’s Pre-Engineering Program.
