Dr. John Lund
Dr. John J. Lund served for 25 years in the US Navy, retiring at the rank of CAPTAIN. His first sea tour was on the ballistic missile submarine USS Michigan (B), SSBN 727. His second sea tour was on board the fast attack submarine USS Helen, SSN 727. His third sea tour was as Chief Engineer on the nuclear aircraft carrier USS George Washington, CVN 73. His shore tours include Associate Professor at the University of Utah, Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, and Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Dr. Lund has received numerous medals and awards, including the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Global War on Terrorism Medal. Dr Lund’s most cherished award is the letter of appreciation he received for tracking the Russian submarine, Oscar Hull 11.
Dr. Lund has served in Civil Service since 2019. He is currently the Executive Director for the Navy’s Ship Repair Facilities in Yokosuka, Japan.
After retiring from the US Navy Dr. Lund spent some time as an entrepreneur. He has two patents for an organic fertilizer process. He started and sold two businesses. He also worked as the Executive Director for a Residential Drug Rehabilitation facility in Draper, Utah.
Dr. Lund has a bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics, a master’s degree in electrical engineering, and a doctorate in strategic leadership. Dr. Lund is a Navy-qualified Nuclear Engineer.
