Since 2015 NSWCPD has been working to update and automate the condenser cleaning process. The current method involves removing the head and manually injecting a cleaning lance into the tubesheet (tube ends). The new system aims to increase efficiency while removing shipyard workers from a potentially dangerous situation.

Naval Surface Warfare Center, Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) In-Service Engineer Dan Lin received a Bravo Zulu from Rear Adm. Casey Moton in Dec. of last year after finding a low-cost, short-term solution to a waterjet problem on many Navy ships.
