September 11, 2015 — BLOOMFIELD, Indiana - Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC Crane) has partnered with the DirectEmployers Foundation, Bloomfield Jr./Sr. High School and Indiana University’s Center for P-16 Research and Collaboration to put personnel into the classroom as part of a total immersion project designed to bring the naval installation into the school system. Representatives from each of the partner organizations met with students at the school on Tuesday, Sept. 8 to explain the new business simulation pilot program, which will immerse kids in a corporate environment while augmenting their Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education... NATO Experts Visit NSWC Crane
July 20, 2015 — CRANE, Indiana - Six experts from NATO's Land Combat Group, Dismounted Soldier Systems and Weapons and Sensors (LCGDSS-WS) teams met with Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC Crane) personnel in late June and early July. Guests from Norway, Great Britain and Canada were represented in the group, which is part of a Team of Experts (ToE) formed to establish standard test procedures for the evaluation of small arms suppressors. During the three-day meeting, team members consulted with subject matter experts from NSWC Crane on methods to effectively and objectively measure spectral emissions from a small arms system utilizing a suppressor during operation... NSWC Crane Holds Ceremony to Celebrate Arrival of EA-6B Prowler
May 5, 2015 — BLOOMINGTON, Indiana - On the morning of Tuesday, May 5, a Navy EA-6B Prowler aircraft performed flyovers of Naval Support Activity (NSA) Crane in route to the Monroe County Airport in Bloomington, Indiana for the final flight of this particular aircraft. A ceremony was held on the tarmac to celebrate the arrival of the retiring Prowler, scheduled to be transported to NSA Crane to become a historical static display. The EA-6B was accompanied by the EA-18G Growler, slated to take over the electronic warfare mission of the Prowler for the Navy... MORE
