NSWC Crane’s Expeditionary Warfare Department has implemented an Advanced Prototyping course at Crane’s Rapid Innovation and Prototype (RIPL) Laboratory. The course provides interns with hands-on training in 3D printing, Kydex fabrication, welding, machining, sewing, wood construction and basic electrical connections.

NSWC Crane Holds Change of Command Ceremony

170713-N-BK152-003 - CRANE, Ind. – Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC Crane) held a formal Change of Command Ceremony on Thursday. Capt. Mark Oesterreich relieved Capt. JT Elder after three years as NSWC Crane’s 28th Commanding Officer. Elder will retire from the U.S. Navy after 28 years of service.

CRANE, Ind. - July 11, 2017 - Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC Crane) hosted a Surface Electro-Optics/Infrared (EO/IR) Standards Profile Review in collaboration with Naval Sea Systems Command’s (NAVSEA) Surface EO/IR Technical Warrant Holder from 9-10 May. The event was a follow-up to the NAVSEA EO/IR Modular Open Systems Approach/Architecture (MOSA) Technical Exchange Meeting, which was hosted by NSWC Crane in June 2016 and established the technical direction for the standards review.

Local Teams Compete at NSWC Crane’s Sea, Air and Land Challenge

Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division’s (NSWC Crane) Sea, Air and Land Challenge took place Saturday April 15 at Ivy Tech Community College’s main campus in Bloomington. The challenge is a new Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) initiative with a focus on engineering and robotics that fosters interest in DoD technologies by giving high school students hands-on experience and exposure to the Special Operations community.
