March 8, 2017 — Brooke Pyne, the technology transfer (T2) manager at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC Crane), has been named the National T2 Rookie of the Year by the Federal Laboratory Consortium (FLC). In the two-plus years since then, Pyne has helped elevate NSWC Crane’s T2 program to an unprecedented level in terms of numbers of signed T2 agreements, strategic partnerships with state organizations, universities, and industry, and the size and quality of the lab’s intellectual property (IP) portfolio. NSWC Crane’s Technology Transfer (T2) Office, in partnership with the Office of Naval Research (ONR), conducted an Innovation Discovery Event Thursday
February 14, 2017 — NSWC Crane initially created the Innovation Discovery process – in partnership with the University of Southern Indiana – in hopes of increasing its number of patent applications, issued patents, and license agreements. The ultimate goal was to achieve greater success in T2, leading to enhanced defense capabilities and positive economic outcomes. Thursday’s event at NSWC Crane brought the Innovation Discovery process back to where it began. NSWC Crane Commanding Officer Named Laboratory Director of the Year
January 20, 2017 — Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division Commanding Officer Capt. JT Elder was named the Laboratory Director of the Year by the Federal Laboratory Consortium (FLC) on Friday. Each year since 1999, the FLC National Advisory Council has honored Laboratory Directors who have made outstanding contributions to support technology transfer (T2) activities in their organizations and the communities they serve. Capt. Elder earned this year’s award because of his unwavering support of NSWC Crane’s T2 efforts. Capt. Elder is the just the third winner of the award from any Naval Surface Warfare Center, and the first since NSWC Crane’s Duane Embree won it in 2013. Capt.
