With Grant in Hand, Local Robotics Students and Their NSWC PHD Mentors Await Word on How This Year’s FIRST Robotics School Competitions Will Take Place

ance Brahosky, NSWC PHD’s deputy technical director, takes the controls of a student-built robot at the Oct. 16, 2019 ceremony at Oxnard College celebrating NSWC PHD, NAWC WD and NAVFAC EXWC’s receipt of grant funds from the Navy’s Office of Secretary of Defense. Much like this year’s recent disbursement, the grant money went to local students for participation in the For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) Robotics competitions. The two students flanking Brahosky also participated in NSWC PHD’s Pre-Engineering Program.

(July 2, 2020) – Hattie Webb is awarded the 2020 Women of Color Technology All Star Award for her lasting impact across the Tomahawk Program, Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), and the local community. At NSWCDD she serves as the senior systems engineer for the Tomahawk Missile Program in the Strike Weapons Systems Division and as a group leader who mentors young scientists and engineers. “I look forward to coming to work every day to mentor and guide others,” said  Webb, “We work as a team to provide quality products to the fleet.”
