NSWC Philadelphia Division Awarded SECNAV Energy Excellence Award

The Secretary of the Navy (SECNAV) recently recognized Naval Surface Warfare Center, Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) with a 2022 SECNAV Energy Award in the Technology Development & Acquisition category for its High Efficiency Super-Capacity (HES-C) chiller, seen here on USS John P. Murtha (LPD 26). The HES-C chiller is currently being fielded on all new construction amphibious transport dock, destroyer (DDG), and Constellation-class frigate hulls. NSWCDD employee finds math as a way to communicate universally

IMAGE: Daisy Young, a mission analyst from the Warfare Analysis and Digital Modeling Department, came to the United States with her family when she was 13. Since then, she has earned a bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics, has traveled the country and has lived in Germany with her husband. Young joined the workforce at Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division in early 2020, and is currently enrolled in graduate studies.

NSWC Crane leads Office of Naval Research effort to enhance electro-optics, infrared technology at sea

Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC Crane) hosted a milestone workshop for a new program dedicated to improved maritime electro-optic and infrared (EO/IR) technology. The workshop hosted about 40 participants from across industry, government, and several federally-funded laboratories meeting in-person for the first time in Bloomington, Indiana and at NSWC Crane on May 10-11.

USS Yorktown (CV-5) in Dry Dock 1 at the Pearl Harbor Navy Yard, 29 May 1942, receiving urgent repairs for damage received in the Battle of Coral Sea. She left Pearl Harbor the next day to participate in the Battle of Midway.
