SAN DIEGO, Calif (Aug. 2, 2016) Ms. Travie Ross, daughter of Hershel Woodrow "Woody" Williams, welds her initials into the ship's keel during a keel laying ceremony for the future USNS Hershel "Woody" Williams (ESB 4) in San Diego, California, Aug 2. Hershel Woodrow "Woody" Williams is the last living Medal of Honor recipient from the Battle of Iwo Jima. PEO Ships is responsible for executing the development and procurement of all destroyers, amphibious ships, special mission and support ships, boats and craft.

160525 (May 25, 2016) GULF OF MEXICO - The future USNS Carson City (EPF 7) successfully completed its builder's acceptance trials during an underway period in the Gulf of Mexico, May 25-26. Expeditionary Fast Transport class ships (EPFs) are versatile, non-combatant, transport ships that will be used for high-speed mobility and transportation of troops, military vehicles, and equipment in support of a wide variety of missions. Future USS Delbert D. Black (DDG 119) Keel Authenticated

PASCAGOULA, Miss. (June 1, 2016) - Mrs. Ima Black places her initials onto the keel plate of DDG 119 during the ceremony authenticating the keel of the future USS Delbert D. Black. The destroyer was named in honor of Black’s late husband Delbert Black, the first Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy. The Flight IIA Arleigh Burke class ship will serve as an integral player in global maritime security, engaging in air, undersea, surface, strike and ballistic missile defense.
U.S. Navy Accepts Delivery of Future USS Zumwalt (DDG 1000)

160421-N-YE579-005 (May 20, 2016) BATH, Maine - The U.S. Navy accepted delivery of DDG 1000, the future USS Zumwalt destroyer May 20. Following a crew certification period and October commissioning ceremony in Baltimore, Zumwalt will transit to her homeport in San Diego for a Post Delivery Availability and Mission Systems Activation. DDG 1000, pictured during acceptance trials in April, is the lead ship of the Zumwalt-class destroyers; next-generation multi-mission surface combatants tailored for land attack and littoral dominance.
