Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) provided equipment, personnel, and expertise to demonstrate the modular capability of the Mine Countermeasure (MCM) Mission Package (MP) aboard the United States Naval Ship Hershel “Woody” Williams (T-ESB 4) earlier this month. NSWC PCD is the lead engineering activity for MCM MP.

The Remote Control Assault Amphibious Vehicle (RC AAV) is pictured after completing one of its successfully-completed 22 surf zone crossings while undergoing testing at Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC) United States Marine Corps’ (USMC) Amphibious Vehicle Test Branch. The testing of the newly modernized RC AAV is the result of a collaborative effort between the Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division and the United States MCSC.

A testing manikin with a breathing system is placed into the chamber. Multiple sensors are embedded within the manikin head to simulate a manned system. Sensors are capable of measuring pressure, concentrations of carbon dioxide and oxygen, and temperature used in testing diving and other safety equipment.
