TAMPA, Fla. – The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Jack H. Lucas (DDG 125) was commissioned in Tampa, Florida on October 7, 2023. This vessel is the first of its kind to be equipped with the Aegis Weapon System, Baseline 10. Team Omer Breaks World Record-and Barriers

Team OMER from École de Technologie Supérieur (ETS) in Québec, Canada set a new world record for fastest speed in a single-person propellor submarine (7.682 knots) at the International Human-powered Submarines Races hosted biennially at NSWC Carderock Division.  They also took home the Maritime Technology Alliance Overall Performance Award, the Absolute Speed Award, and the Best Spirit of the Races Award.
