Carderock is one of the Navy’s pre-eminent research and development facilities that specializes in critical ship design components headquartered in West Bethesda, Maryland. The Carderock Division supports small-scale model testing and evaluation of next-generation surface ships and underwater vessels.

Team Omer Breaks World Record-and Barriers

Team OMER from École de Technologie Supérieur (ETS) in Québec, Canada set a new world record for fastest speed in a single-person propellor submarine (7.682 knots) at the International Human-powered Submarines Races hosted biennially at NSWC Carderock Division.  They also took home the Maritime Technology Alliance Overall Performance Award, the Absolute Speed Award, and the Best Spirit of the Races Award.
