Navy Celebrates Centennial of Dahlgren Base at Grand Finale

Godfrey ‘Gus’ Weekes, NSWC Dahlgren Division commanding officer hold the Virginia General Assembly Resolution proclaiming Oct. 16 as Dahlgren Day during the grand finale celebration of the NSWC Dahlgren Division centennial. Virginia State Sen. Richard Stuart and Virginia Delegate Margaret Ransone read and presented the resolution at the event.

USI, NSWC Crane sign agreement to conduct research on chemical reactions

USI President Dr. Ronald Rochon and NSWC Crane Commanding Officer CAPT Mark Oesterreich signed a cooperative research and development agreement (CRADA) in a ceremony on October 22, 2018 hosted at NSWC Crane. The CRADA between NSWC Crane and USI allows both entities to leverage each other’s subject matter experts, laboratory space, and high-tech equipment.

Sailor cutting the Navy's birthday cake with the command's youngest Sailor, Lt. Adam Mattison. The Navy birthday cake-cutting ceremony is important to all Sailors, as it is an annual renewal of each Sailor's commitment to the Navy and 
the Navy's commitment to our nation's quest for peace and freedom worldwide. Perchalski and Mattison cut the cake with a sword, a traditional reminder that NSWCDD Sailors are among a band of warriors, committed to carrying arms 
so that the United States and its people may live in peace.

Navy Innovators Reveal Revolutionary Research to Counter Emerging Threats

(Sept. 25, 2018) – Associate investigators Teeya Roche and Megan Kozub are pictured at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) In-house Laboratory Independent Research (ILIR) and Independent Applied Research (IAR) End of Year Review. They identified challenges, objectives, accomplishments and future benefits related to their IAR project -- “Data Visualization Support for Creation of a Numerical Table: Effects on Training and Performance” -- to Navy technical managers, engineers, and scientists as well as representatives from academia, industry, transition partners, and other key stakeholders. The innovative tool can reduce Sailor workload by minimizing the required sectors that a warfighter must monitor for each ship based on the global coverage area of the Fleet doctrine.
