Roland received the NSWCDD Distinguished Community Service Award in 2019 for “outstanding contributions to the community” for participating in the trip as well as serving more than 16 years as an EMT for the Chancellor Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department, which serves parts of Spotsylvania County, Va. “Roland selflessly shares her extensive expertise to help those in the local community and abroad,” cites the award. (June 15, 2017) - Navy scientist Charles Miller and mathematician Jessica Hildebrand perform pre-flight checks on the SCAPEGOAT chemical, biological, and radiological (CBR) detection system. The SCAPEGOAT system - developed by a team of Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division junior scientists and engineers - demonstrates the capability to deploy a modular CBR sensor system aboard multiple unmanned aerial vehicle platforms.
