JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR HICKAM, Hawaii (February 27, 2022)- Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro looks at the proposed Dry Dock 5 site at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility. The Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program will support future Virginia-class submarine maintenance and optimize work across the shipyard. Secretary Del Toro is in Hawaii to meet with families and senior officials and to see first-hand the progress that has been made in restoring and protecting the island’s safe drinking water. Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard Employees Promote Apprentice Program at Waipahu High School

The event was part of the school’s job fair in which students from the Design and Technology Academy met with various organizations to learn about different employment programs. The PHNSY & IMF Apprentice Program is a successful partnership between the shipyard, the U.S. Department of Labor, and Honolulu Community College. Graduating apprentices earn a tuition-paid Associate in Applied Science degree, and a certificate from the U.S. Department of Labor.

NSWCDD Employee Receives Navy’s Third Highest Civilian Award
