NSWC IHD’s New STEM Apprenticeship Program Makes a Splash

NSWC IHD recently held its first STEM underwater robot event. Local high school students selected across Charles County, Maryland, were given the opportunity to participate in a three-week Naval Energetics Technology Apprentice Program (NETAP) and work alongside NSWC IHD engineers and scientists in a hands-on environment. Students were divided into three teams where they worked together to design, program, build and test robots to compete in three underwater challenge courses. Here, NSWC IHD Commanding Officer Capt.
