CRANE, Ind. - Tom Raley’s career as an electronics engineer may have started when he won a chess tournament in a third grade classroom on the southside of Chicago. Raley, who always had strong math and science skills, decided to pursue and engineering major in college after taking interest in the work of his peers.

Godfrey ‘Gus’ Weekes holds the USS Arlington (LPD-24) coin that was presented to NSWCDD Sly Fox Mission 23 team members while they were deployed aboard the Arlington for a week via the Scientists, Engineers and Logisticians to Sea program sponsored by NSWCDD Dam Neck Activity and NSWCDD. While at sea, the seven-member Mission 23 team presented the NSWCDD coin to Arlington’s commanding officer, who in turn, presented his warship’s coin to the Dahlgren junior scientists and engineers. (Aug. 16, 2018) – Dr. Chris Lloyd, High Energy Laser Lethality Lead at Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), briefs Royal Australian Navy (RAN) Commodore Peter Leavy and his delegation at the NSWCDD Laser Lethality Lab during the RAN delegation's NSWCDD visit. Lloyd explained the importance of rigorous modeling and laboratory testing against target materials to ensure high energy laser systems are built that meet the requirements of the warfighter once fielded. NSWCDD is drawing on its knowledge of electromagnetic launchers, hypervelocity projectiles, and directed energy weapons, in addition to its established core capabilities in complex warfare systems development and integration to incorporate electric weapons technology into existing and future fighting forces and platforms. NSWC Crane Engineer Finds New Home in Indiana

Chemical Engineer Mackenzie Alameda had never even been to Indiana when she took a job at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC Crane) right after graduating from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 2015, but the promise of opportunity drew her in.
