The team – comprising ten grade-school students from multiple public and home-school districts in metro-Richmond – received the first place Innovation Project Award for their solution to combat homelessness. The borescope tool provides access to the internal sections of an engine, enabling the users to view any damage, cracks or imperfections within the confined chambers of the engine. NSWCPD and Rowan University Continue Third Year of Naval Engineering Education Consortium (NEEC) Research

PHILADELPHIA – Rowan University students and faculty toured Naval Surface Warfare Center, Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) test sites and labs on Oct. 24 during a kick-off for the third year of a Naval Engineering Education Consortium (NEEC) research grant. During the tour, NSWCPD’s Applied Superconductivity team leader and a Rowan alumnus, Dr. Jacob Kephart (center), highlighted the Command’s High Temperature Superconducting lab which conducts similar research to Rowan’s project. Navy Officials Break Ground for New Cyber Warfare Engineering Laboratory

Navy officials, including NSWCDD leadership, broke ground for the facility Dec. 12. It will bring together the building blocks of existing capabilities into one place to provide a robust and flexible software and hardware testing capability for Department of Defense and Navy weapon systems, cyber and network platforms in addition to industrial control systems supporting DoD infrastructure.

Mechanical Group (Code 930) Boiler Shop (Shop 41) mechanics Larry Montgomery (center left) and James Yung (center right) were recognized as the Third Quarter Cleanliness Warriors for their continuous efforts in cleanliness as well as their efforts as part of the USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) project. Both recepients were awarded a certificate of achievement, a Cleanliness Warrior sticker, a service award, and a C.O.R.E. award.
