NSWCDD Commanding Officer Capt. Godfrey 'Gus' Weekes looks on as Mills explains how the virtual workspace allows for real-time cloud-based collaboration. Virtualization and directed energy were among the briefs NSWCDD scientists and engineers presented to Geurts who also observed a laser demonstration. As the Navy's acquisition executive, Geurts has oversight of an annual budget in excess of $60 billion and is responsible for equipping and supporting Sailors and Marines with the best platforms, systems and technology as they operate around the globe in defense of the nation.
