NSWC IHD Celebrates Time-Honored Tradition with Change of Command Ceremony

Incoming Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division Commanding Officer Capt. Stephen Duba addresses the audience at the change of command ceremony at Naval Support Facility Indian Head, Md., Aug. 25. Duba will now oversee the DoD’s largest full-spectrum energetics facility and the Navy’s only public arsenal supporting the DoD, the nation’s partners and allies.
NSWC IHD NETAP Students Heat Things Up in Summer Robotics Competition

A student with the Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division’s (NSWC IHD) Naval Energetics Technology Apprenticeship Program (NETAP) prepares their underwater remotely operated vehicle for her group’s scenario at Naval Support Facility Indian Head, July 28. NETAP provides students an opportunity to engage in a hands-on internship allowing them to develop their engineering skills. Over the course of the program, students learned and improved upon their tooling, soldering and programming skills by building miniature unmanned underwater vehicles

EXU-1 Conducts Maritime Post-Blast Investigation Course

An Expeditionary Exploitation Unit One Technical Exploitation Platoon member collects evidence during a site exploitation training scenario as part of the maritime post-blast investigation course at Naval Air Station Key West, June 2-9. The course was developed to expand and develop EOD operator’s skillset in maritime post-blast exploitation techniques through classroom coursework, diving and strategic case study analysis. NAVAIR Recognizes NSWC IHD CAD/PAD JPO Team for Unprecedented Response

NAVAIR Commander, Vice Admiral Carl Chebi (left) presented thee Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division Cartridge and Propellant Actuated Device (CAD/PAD) Joint Program Office (JPO) with the Naval Air Systems Command Commander’s Award for Availability during a ceremony at the Naval Air Station Patuxent River in Lexington Park, Maryland, May 31. CAD/PAD JPO Director Gregory Longworth (center) and JPO Navy Deputy Program Manager Jason Caron (right) received the award on behalf of the team of engineers, technicians, logisticians, analysts, handlers, drivers and radiographers from across the command who were responsible for the prestigious award.

Personnel attached to Expeditionary Exploitation Unit One (EXU-1) prepares material recovered during the U.S. Navy’s Crab Exercise (CrabEx) for forensic photography. CrabEx is an annual training exercise requiring explosive ordnance disposal units to clear a range of simulated explosive threats during full mission profile drills using special operations mobility tactics and advanced technologies.
