Sailors Look inside a Gas Turbine Engine in Philadelphia

U.S. Navy Sailors attached to USS Fitzgerald (DDG 62) receive borescope inspection training conducted by Scott Brown, Senior Engineering Technician, at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Philadelphia Division, The Navy Yard in Philadelphia. The borescope tool provides access to the internal sections of an engine, enabling the users to view any damage, cracks or imperfections within the confined chambers of the engine. NSWC Philadelphia Division DDG 51-Class Land Based Engineering Site Celebrates 30 Years of Supporting the Fleet

PHILADELPHIA – DDG 51 Land Based Engineering Site (LBES) in 2012. The site has served the fleet for 30 years. LBES will stay in service through the lifespan of the DDG 51-class, which has been expanded to a 45-year service life, continuing to train crews for both new construction and earlier ships undergoing their mid-life upgrades, and to validate machinery system upgrades improving availability and reducing operating costs. NSWCDD Engineers Revolutionize Combat Training with TRACER Augmented Reality

IMAGE: 190613-N-PO203-0259 CHESAPEAKE, Virginia (Jun. 13, 2019) A Sailor assigned to the Center for Security Forces detachment in Chesapeake, Va., demonstrate the Office of Naval Research Global (ONRG) TechSolutions-sponsored Tactically Reconfigurable Artificial Combat Enhanced Reality (TRACER) system. TechSolutions partnered with Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division to develop the TRACER package, which consists of a virtual-reality headset, a backpack, a state-of-the-art simulated weapon designed to deliver realistic recoil, and a software package that creates multiple and adaptable simulation scenarios for security personnel to experience. New Supervisors Propel Toward Success at NAVSEA Warfare Centers

They completed a five-day course called 'Propel' that provides an introductory level awareness of Warfare Center expectations for supervisors. The NSWCDD tour and briefings - focusing on the Electromagnetic Railgun Facility, the Potomac River Test Range, and the Human Performance Laboratory - gave the Propel students a deeper look into the work at Dahlgren. NSWCPD’s Course Catalog and Registration Development Team Receives Training Officers Consortium Award

(June 11, 2019) Naval Surface Warfare Center, Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) Dave Perritt (left) and Ryan Fox (right) won the 2019 Training Officers Consortium’s Learning Technologies Award during the 64th annual Distinguished Service Awards Ceremony. Perritt and Fox created the Command’s Course Catalog and Registration Tool that helps manage, track, and register employees for NSWCPD’s on-site workforce development classes.
