JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii – Mr. John Ornellas, the Nuclear Engineering and Planning Manager for the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PHNSY & IMF), was appointed its newest Senior Executive Service in October. As the organization’s senior civilian, Ornellas reports directly to Naval Sea Systems Command in Washington, D.C., and is responsible for properly controlling radioactive work on nuclear propulsion plants. PHNSY & IMF Successfully Undocks USS Topeka

PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii – Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility successfully undocked the Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine USS Topeka (SSN 754) on-time commencing a two-day evolution on July 27, 2021. This undocking is a major milestone in the submarine’s docking selected restricted availability (DSRA). Each undocking is a complex evolution that requires teamwork across the entire shipyard to ensure a safe and on time event.

PHNSY & IMF generosity gives Toys for Tots more than 1,000 gifts

The PHNSY & IMF workforce participated in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots campaign for the first time this year. The shipyard-wide effort gathered more than 1,000 toys to support the Navy League of the United States Honolulu Council’s effort in lieu of its annual Toys for Tots golf tournament that was suspended due to COVID-19.
