Leadership from Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility, Naval Base Kitsap and Naval Facilities Engineering Command Northwest take part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony for new and upgraded shipyard here facilities May 6. The ribbon cuttings signify the upgrade of Buildings 435 and construction completion of Building 1247, which collectively provide a new environmental laboratory, light industrial work spaces, administrative and personnel support areas, an upgraded fire station, a new employee food services kitchen and a cafeteria.

Partnership overcomes facemask challenges for deaf and hard of hearing teammates

Facemasks, produced through efforts of the Sail Loft, Shop 64 and employees from the Home Team Mask project are distributed to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility deaf and hard of hearing employees. The mask were made with a see-through panel allowing employees to see lips and facial expressions. Trying one on for the first time is Brandon Salley, an electrical worker with Shop 51, Electricians.

Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility completed a Carrier Incremental Availability for USS Nimitz (CVN 68) early, April 13, 2020. PSNS & IMF workers teamed up with contractors and Nimitz’ ship’s force to complete the availability two days early, after conducting a combined 17,500 man-days of work on the ship, from Feb. 21 to April 13.

PSNS & IMF Increases Production of Protective Face Masks, Partners with NBK Community

Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility leadership and union partners handed out reusable, cloth face masks to all shipyard employees entering the Controlled Industrial Area this morning.

The masks were made by fabric workers in the PSNS & IMF Sail Loft, along with volunteers from other shops, codes, and Sailors from Naval Base Kitsap, USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70), USS Olympia (SSN-717) and USS Louisville (SSN-724). The goal is to ensure every employee is issued three of the masks. So far, 20,000 masks have been produced.
