U.S. Navy EOD develops IED exploitation capabilities with NATO allies and partners at Northern Challenge 2024

U.S. Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) technicians assigned to EOD Mobile Unit 8 conduct clearance and disposal operations of improvised explosive devices during Northern Challenge 2024 in Keflavik, Iceland, Sept. 29, 2024. Northern Challenge is an annual, joint-funded multinational EOD exercise hosted by the Icelandic Coast Guard aimed at preparing NATO Allies and NATO’s Partnership for Peace partners for international deployments and defense against terrorism.

NSWC Indian Head Division STEM Program Inspires Future Scientists and Engineers

Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division recently hosted the third annual Naval Energetics Technology Apprenticeship Program (NETAP). Led by the command’s Chief Technology Office and STEM coordinator, the three-week internship program offers local high school students an opportunity to work with scientists and engineers from NSWC IHD.

Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division’s Novel Metal Fuel and Synthesis Combustion Team of Emma Skekel (left) and Dr. Demitrios Stamatis (right) are the recipients of a 2024 Dr. Delores M. Etter Top Scientist and Engineering team award for designing and developing a constant volume combustion (CVC) vessel. The CVC uses only gram amounts of material, saving time and money.
