CRANE, Ind. –
Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC Crane) brought together the entire "TEAM Crane" community on September 11th for its 3rd annual "Meet the Mission" (MtM) event. The open-house style event provided a unique opportunity for civilian, military, and contractor employees to explore the cutting-edge technologies and collaborative efforts driving support for the Joint Forces.
Attendees delved into the history of Crane, explored current technology developments, and gained a deeper understanding of the complex operations across the installation. Tables, booths, and technology displays highlighted the diverse mission areas of NSWC Crane, alongside contributions from tenant commands including Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC), Naval Support Activity Crane (NSA Crane), and Crane Army Ammunition Activity (CAAA).
“We were honored to be a part of this event,” said COL Cornett, CAAA Commanding Officer. “At CAAA we believe in providing only the best for our best, it was an honor to showcase that sentiment here next to our Navy brothers and sisters.”
NSA Crane highlighted its vital role in facilities resiliency and projects designed to enhance the capabilities of tenant organizations. “It was great to see everyone out at Meet the Mission,” said LCDR Grinch, Executive Officer for NSA. “Events like this give our team the opportunity to understand the full scope of support our tenant commands provide for our Warfighters.”
MtM also facilitated valuable interaction between employees and leadership from each organization, fostering open communication and a shared understanding of priorities. “It is an honor to be a part of this event with our partners at NSA and CAAA,” said NSWC Crane Commanding Officer CAPT Boonyobhas. “We are all partners in our goal to aid our Warfighters, and this event stands as a reminder of that mission. MtM allows us to showcase our dedication to our Joint forces.”
This year's event held special significance as it coincided with the Navy's 250th birthday. Attendees had the opportunity to purchase gear commemorating this historic milestone. “It being the 250th birthday of the Navy makes this event more special, at least for me,” said CAPT Boonyobhas. “All of TEAM Crane plays such a special part in that history and enduring legacy of our Fleet. I was honored to help celebrate it in such a unique and mission-focused way.”
