160525 (May 25, 2016) GULF OF MEXICO - The future USNS Carson City (EPF 7) successfully completed its builder's acceptance trials during an underway period in the Gulf of Mexico, May 25-26. Expeditionary Fast Transport class ships (EPFs) are versatile, non-combatant, transport ships that will be used for high-speed mobility and transportation of troops, military vehicles, and equipment in support of a wide variety of missions. The acceptance trial is the last significant milestone before delivery of the ship to the Navy, which is planned for later this spring.

NSWCDD’s AEGIS team awarded for “exceptional” support in Romania

Rear Adm. J.R. Wolfe, Program Executive for Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) recently applauded the efforts of NSWCDD’s Aegis team for “exceptional support provided while reviewing the Aegis Ashore Missile Defense System (AAMDS) Baseline 9.B1.0.0.1E in Romania during Operational Deployment.”

NSWCDD’s leadership presented the team members with awards during the last quarterly Management Forum held in May.  Awardees included Annabelle Bequio, Tracy Blake, Carolyn Blakelock, Ronald DeClute, Stephen “Pete” Gaither, Mike Gammill, Jolymar Gonzalez-Esteves, David Hayes, Michael Huang, Joe Janney and Hitendra Thakkar.

DAHLGREN, Va. - Matthew Swartz – U.S. Fleet Cyber Command Executive Director and Command Information Officer – talks to the audience at Naval Support Facility Dahlgren about the 2016 Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month’s national theme: "Walk Together, Embrace Differences, Build Legacies." Swartz weaved personal stories about growing up at the Dahlgren naval base into his keynote speech. ““In those journeys I used to take with her, I learned from her differences to the point where I finally got comfortable with our differences and started to embrace them,” said Swartz about long walks he would have with his mother and his differences as an American with Japanese ethnicity. “I no longer tried to hide them, which was interesting.”
