NISE TEM 2023: NUWC Division, Keyport’s biggest-ever event a ‘resounding success’

This year's Naval Innovative Science and Engineering Technical Exchange Meeting included 136 poster sessions focused on projects aimed at maintaining the U.S. Navy’s decisive technical advantage in its capabilities. This has been a year of firsts for the annual NISE TEM, held at Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Keyport, Sept. 12-14.

Keel Laid on Future USS Fallujah

The keel laying and authentication ceremony for the future USS Fallujah (LHA 9) was held at the Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) Pascagoula shipyard, Sept. 20. In attendance and pictured from left: Maj. Gen. NSWC Crane employee awarded for her leadership during the Silent Swarm experimentation event

Sondra Laughlin was awarded the Civilian Service Commendation Medal (CSCM), which is the fourth highest honorary award in the Navy, for her work serving as Deputy Lead during the Silent Swarm experimentation event. Laughlin was the lead facilitator for all of Silent Swarm experimentation planning workshops, team events, and was in charge of daily planning and execution activities for the team. The team that Laughlin oversaw included multiple federal agencies, academic institutions, and industry partners.
