Local Students Show Off STEM Skills at Regional SeaPerch Competition
April 9, 2018 — On Saturday April 7, 2018, area students competed in a Regional SeaPerch Competition held at North Daviess High School. The Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) team at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC Crane) organized the competition, and many NSWC Crane employees served as coaches and volunteers for the event. Saturday’s competition at North Daviess was the second of Indiana’s three SeaPerch regionals. In total, nearly 200 students from Indiana formed 80 teams for this year’s regional competitions. The top overall teams from the three state regionals will qualify for the International SeaPerch Challenge, which will take place June 1-3 at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth ... MORE

A Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility worker demonstrates to managers, process improvement specialists and trades people how the Ekso zeroG Arm can be used to reduce injuries and increase productivity during a technology trial Feb. 26-28 at the shipyard in Bremerton, Washington. For the demonstration, the grinder was supported by the arm, which was attached to the simulated bulkhead with switchable magnetic bases. April 3, 2018 — CRANE, Ind. – Jeff Miller, an electronics technician at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC Crane), received a Secretary of the Navy (SECNAV) Innovation Excellence award for his contributions to the Ship to Shore Maneuver Exploration and Experimentation (S2ME2) Advanced Naval Technology Exercise (ANTX). Miller, a 34-year employee of NSWC Crane, was officially recognized during the ANTX - 2018 Urban 5th Generation Marine (U5G) Exploration and Experimentation Exercise that took place from March 22-25 at Camp Pendleton in San Diego, California...
