Eric Ver Hage – commander of the Naval Sea System Command (NAVSEA) Warfare Centers – discusses high energy laser testing with Dr. Chris Lloyd, High Energy Laser Lethality lead at Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD). Lloyd emphasized that lethality lab efforts – including rigorous modeling and testing against target materials to ensure high energy laser systems meet warfighter requirements – are growing while keeping pace with an increased demand signal for fielded high energy laser weapons. Meanwhile, Lloyd’s team is coordinating and collaborating with organizations throughout the Department of Defense and elsewhere to accomplish common goals. A Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC Crane) employee was recognized for his contributions to advancing the flexible hybrid electronics (FHE) ecosystem. Craig Herndon, the Program Manager for the DoD Executive Agent for Printed Circuit Board and Interconnect Technology, received the NextFlex 2019 Fellow Award in Monterey, California.
