Dahlgren Navy Base Starts Centennial Countdown

IMAGE: DAHLGREN, Va. (Oct. 16, 2017) – Capt. Godfrey ‘Gus’ Weekes, John Fiore, Jim Colvard, and Capt. Michael O’Leary are pictured at the Dahlgren Centennial commemoration kickoff ceremony. It was the first of a series of events and activities scheduled over the next year to celebrate the significant role Dahlgren has played in bolstering the nation’s defense. Weekes is the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) commanding officer; Fiore is the NSWCDD technical director; Colvard was the NSWCDD technical director from 1973 to 1980; and O’Leary is the NSA South Potomac commanding officer.

NSWC Crane Hosts Marine Corps Commandant for First Time in 75-Year History

CRANE, Ind. – At the invitation of United States Senators Joe Donnelly and Todd Young, the Commandant of the Marine Corps – General Robert Neller – visited Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC Crane) on Friday to gain a more in-depth understanding of Crane’s capabilities and its current efforts in supporting the Marine Corps.

Naval Meterology and Oceanography Command collabortates with Carderock for remote autonomous demonstration

Engineers from Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division launch an unmanned surface vehicle in Triadelphia Reservoir near Brighton Dam in Brookville, Md., that will function as a relay for an unmanned underwater vehicle conducting bathymetry in the reservoir Sept. 28, 2017. Staff from the Naval Meteorological and Oceanography Command controlled the collaborative autonomous demonstration via satellite connection from their headquarters at John C. Stennis Space Center in Mississippi with assistance from the Autonomous Vehicle and Instrumentation Group and other Carderock personnel. U.S. Navy completes USS John S. McCain transport preparations

SINGAPORE – (Oct. 7, 2017) – MV Treasure concludes USS John S. McCain (DDG 56) heavy lift operations in the Singapore Strait, Oct. 7. U.S. Navy Supervisor of Salvage and Diving representatives prepared the destroyer for transit to Yokosuka, Japan, later this month.
