Entitled ‘Women of the Warfare Centers’, this highlight featured the significant contributions made by women in various roles such as scientists, engineers, training specialists, administrative specialist and human resources throughout the organization. Eric Ver Hage – commander of the Naval Sea System Command (NAVSEA) Warfare Centers – discusses high energy laser testing with Dr. Chris Lloyd, High Energy Laser Lethality lead at Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD). Lloyd emphasized that lethality lab efforts – including rigorous modeling and testing against target materials to ensure high energy laser systems meet warfighter requirements – are growing while keeping pace with an increased demand signal for fielded high energy laser weapons. Meanwhile, Lloyd’s team is coordinating and collaborating with organizations throughout the Department of Defense and elsewhere to accomplish common goals.
