‘Realm of the Possible’ Revealed by Multi-Mission Unmanned Surface Vehicle

(March 28, 2018) - A developmental, early variant of the Common Unmanned Surface Vehicle (CUSV) autonomously conducts maneuvers on the Potomac River Test Range during its demonstration before government, defense contractors, military personnel - and an Osprey. Navy scientists and engineers plan to prove the power of Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) developed weapons systems integrated with the developmental CUSV at a gunfire demonstration later this year. A cooperative research and development agreement between NSWCDD and Textron Systems covers the integration of missile, designator, and remote weapon station payloads to the CUSV with its 3,500-pound payload capacity on the deck and a payload bay measuring 20.5 x 6.5 feet.
