DAHLGREN, Va. –
United Kingdom Royal Navy Rear Adm. James Parkin, CBE, Director Develop Royal Navy, and other members of his staff visited Naval Surface Warfare Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) March 1.
Parkin was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire during the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2020.
Joining Parkin during his visit were Royal Navy Cmdr. Derek Powles, the UK assistant naval attaché from the UK Embassy; Royal Navy Lt. Dan Breslin, the staff officer to Director Develop; Prof. Andy Bell, the chief technology officer for the UK’s Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL); Sam Hannant, the DSTL science advisor; and Rich Hughes, the maritime science and technology lead from the UK Embassy.
NSWCDD Commanding Officer Capt. Stephen “Casey” Plew and NSWCDD Technical Director Dale Sisson, SES, welcomed the group before the team attended several surface systems discussions.
These collaborative meetings strengthen ties between the allies and promote interoperability and interchangeability.
