WASHINGTON -- Deborah “Debbie” Anderson, Logistics Principal Assistant Program Manager, LPD 17 Class Program within Program Executive Office Ships has been named the Admiral Stan Arthur 2020 Civilian Logistician of the Year.
This award recognizes logisticians who epitomize excellence in the realm of logistics planning and execution – ensuring the delivery of capability and sustainment to the fleet is hand-in-hand with timely provision of end-to-end logistic support. Fleet readiness and logistics are best postured to provide persistent support in unpredictable environments and Anderson’s work ensured that there was a minimal learning curve and no decline in efficiency as new ships transitioned to the fleet.
“Debbie’s work will have a profound impact on the fleet for years to come,” said Capt. Scot Searles, program manager of the LPD 17 Class Program, Program Executive Ships Office. “She is a dedicated, innovative and resourceful leader and is the driving force behind the outstanding sustainment posture of the LPD 17 Class.”
Amid challenges with obsolescence, Anderson found solutions to maintaining life cycle support for the ships of the LPD 17 Class. Other accomplishments include reducing mean logistics delay times and reducing replacement part long lead times from months to days for deployed ships. She also planned the innovative sustainment concept for the Light Amphibious Warship Class.
As one of the Defense Department's largest acquisition organizations, PEO Ships is responsible for executing the development and procurement of all destroyers, amphibious ships, special mission and support ships, boats and craft.
